This exclusive single cask release from the Isle of Raasay Distillery has been handpicked for the New Zealand market. Created from unpeated spirit and aged in a first-fill Chinkapin oak cask, selected by the Raasay team. This expression is non-chill filtered, bottled at natural strength and colour.Freshly charred and toasted, these custom made Chinkapin, or Quercus Muehlenbergii, American White Oak casks are a type of Oak native to Central and Eastern North America. The fresh charring of the cask brings a rich color and flavor early on in the maturation process and the high toast caramelizes the natural sugars in the wood. Expect sweet toffee and butterscotch on the nose; with vibrant dark fruit flavors and deep, rich colors at a young age.
